In the surrounding area of the Strand-Café Hotel you will find nature like from a picture book. Ideal for active holidaymakers and those seeking relaxation. The number of destinations for days out, of sights and the wide range of leisure provisions make the Wiedtal an attractive holiday area. Upon request, we will organise for you guided walks or trips.

Aeronauts

Beautiful thermal and soaring area, so far 60 km (flat triangle) and a max. height of 2,400 m MSN were
flown. Start only with instructions by the club members of the Fliegertreff Roßbach/Wied e.V. and after prior
inspection of the landing location
Note: In the event of stronger SE there may be turbulences about 80 m before the starting location due to a
rotor pretending the flight-ability !! Risk of collapse after the start. At the landing location there is often
circulatory wind in the event of strong sund and SE-S.
Flight limitations zones due to the Conservation of Nature (supportive measures for the breeding of eagle
owls) must be broadly by-passed..
Weißenfelser Ley: This is a steep rock face at the Wied, 1 km to the west of Rahms directly nex to the
village Weißenfels. At the Ley there is a refuge, below which there is a camp site. At this point the Wied has
a prominent, triangular left-turn. This area is not reached with unmotorised planes and this hint primarily is
for motor gliders.
Motorcyclists
Thanks to its vicinity to the Eifel, the Hunsrück, the "Bergisches Land", the Rhine, the Moselle, and the Westerwald forest, Hotel Strand-Café is an optimal starting point for motorcycle tours. Curve fans and cruisers alike will find a variety of routes through the beautiful natural scenery of these regions.
Hikers
A number of well-maintained walking paths around Roßbach invite you to walks of various levels of difficulty. Idyllic nature and an outstandingly developed Nordic Walking net. This is what the Wiedtal as well as the entire Westerwald offer you. The paths lead through green fields, past colourful woods and clear waters. Sports in the free nature here means adventure sports. The body and soul are equally challenged. By walking you wil improve your stamina and fitness, whilst stimulated by the natural surroundings your mind will be able to relax and escape from the daily stresses. Numerous Nordic Walking routes and largely arranged Nordic Walking Parks lead you through the entire Wiedtal and the Westerwald. Whether you are a beginner or advanced walker: our basic instructors will brief you about the sport, will offer you hints and tips and will show you the right techniques. From May 2008 the Premium walk, the Westerwald Steig, with connection to the Rhine Steig will offer you practically indefinite walks. Also, the long-distance walk also runs along the Wied through Roßbach. All our walks start centrally from the car park at the Wiedhalle. All routes are well-signposted and may be combined. The purchase of our walking map is recommended. You may obtain the same in the shop Schreibwaren Marlene Becker, in the hotels and at the tourist office in Waldbreitbach.
